Aug. 12 (UPI) — Unidentified gunmen in Syria have killed seven members of the Syrian Civil Defense volunteer rescue firm, recognised as the White Helmets.
The rescue firm shared a temporary statement on Twitter, confirming the deaths of the volunteers at the group’s operations heart in the metropolis of Sarmin on Saturday early morning.
“seven SCD volunteers were killed by mysterious armed guys in Sarmin SCD heart, Idlib, in the early morning,” the White Helmets claimed.
Founder of the White Helmets, Raed al-Saleh, also mourned the volunteers, who were all shot in the head execution-design, the Telegraph claimed.
“The heart is saddened, there are tears in our eyes for you departure,” he claimed. “Might God reinforce us and make us individual for dealing with this tragedy.”
The White Helmets requested northern Syrian checkpoints to detain any cars with their emblem right after the group claimed the attackers also stole two vans, helmets and walkie-talkies.
The firm, the matter of a movie that gained this year’s Academy Award for most effective documentary short, has been qualified in the past.
