Sept. 5 (UPI) — Syrian President Bashar al-Assad congratulated the Syrian military on Tuesday just after the liberation of Deir Ezzor — a town the Islamic State has besieged for the earlier three a long time.

Backed by Russian air support, the Syrian Military Command claimed in their statement that hundreds of Islamic State militants have been killed or injured in the fight along with the destruction of their motor vehicles, compounds and fortifications.
